Lumecca Peak IPL

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a safe, non-invasive treatment that uses controlled bursts of light to target and improve a variety of skin concerns. Unlike lasers, which work with a single wavelength, IPL uses a broad spectrum of light to address pigmentation, redness, and vascular irregularities — all without damaging the surrounding skin.

At La Vida Medical, we use the advanced Lumecca Peak IPL by InMode — one of the most powerful and effective IPL devices available. This next-generation technology delivers faster treatments, superior results, and often visible improvements after just one session.

IPL vs Laser

Both IPL and laser use light energy to treat the skin, but they work differently. Laser uses a single, focused wavelength to target specific issues, while IPL uses a broad spectrum of light, allowing us to address multiple concerns — pigmentation, redness, broken capillaries — in a single session.

With our Lumecca Peak IPL technology, you can enjoy safe, effective skin renewal with minimal downtime and beautifully refreshed skin.

What to Expect During Treatment

Your appointment will usually take between 15 minutes and one hour, depending on the area being treated. A cooling gel will be applied to your skin, and you’ll be given protective eyewear before the device is placed against the skin. Gentle pulses of light are then delivered, targeting pigmentation, redness, and other concerns.

The sensation is often compared to the snap of an elastic band with a mild warmth. Thanks to Lumecca Peak’s built-in cooling system, the treatment is comfortable and downtime is minimal. For more stubborn concerns, a course of sessions is recommended for the best results.

FAQ

How many IPL sessions will I need?2025-08-13T16:34:53+00:00

While some clients notice visible improvements after just one session, most benefit from a course of 3–6 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, for the best and longest-lasting results.

Is IPL treatment painful?2025-08-13T16:34:22+00:00

IPL is generally well-tolerated. Most clients describe the sensation as a quick snap of an elastic band with mild warmth. Our Lumecca Peak device has built-in cooling technology to keep you comfortable throughout your treatment.

How long does an IPL session take?2025-08-13T16:33:51+00:00

Treatment time depends on the size of the area being treated, but most sessions last between 15 minutes and one hour.

What will my skin look like after IPL?2025-08-13T16:33:14+00:00

You may experience mild redness or warmth, similar to light sun exposure, which usually settles within a few hours. Pigmentation may darken before naturally flaking off over the next 7–10 days.

Is there any downtime after IPL?2025-08-13T16:32:51+00:00

Downtime is minimal. You can return to most normal activities straight after treatment, but we recommend avoiding heat, strenuous exercise, and active skincare for a few days.

Can IPL be used on all skin types?2025-08-13T16:32:25+00:00

IPL works best on lighter skin tones. It may not be suitable for darker skin types or very tanned skin due to the increased risk of pigmentation changes. We will assess your suitability during your consultation.

How should I prepare for my treatment?2025-08-13T16:31:45+00:00

Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products for at least 4 weeks beforehand. Stop using retinoids or acids 7 days prior, and avoid waxing or hair removal creams on the treatment area for 1–2 weeks before your session.

Are the results permanent?2025-08-13T16:31:07+00:00

Results can last for many months, but new pigmentation or redness can develop over time due to sun exposure or ageing. Many clients choose maintenance sessions once or twice a year to keep their skin looking its best.

Is IPL safe?2025-08-13T16:30:22+00:00

Yes — when performed by a trained professional using high-quality equipment like our Lumecca Peak device. We carry out a full consultation and patch test to ensure your safety before starting treatment.

What areas can be treated with IPL?2025-08-13T16:29:52+00:00

Common areas include the face, neck, décolletage, and hands, but IPL can also be used on other sun-exposed areas where pigmentation or redness is a concern.
